Decades of corruption and bad administration has left the money coffers dry. Thousands of government employees are on the verge of being fired, an action that will exacerbate further our already precarious situation. Murders topple the one hundred mark in only fifty days, and the police have no solution to the crisis.

And what are our esteemed Senators and Representatives in our local house of laws doing to correct the problem?

They are launching an investigation to question why the Senate Cafeteria is charging them $2.00 more for a plate of rice and beans.

No, this is not a joke.

Things are going to hell in this country, and this...people, all they can think about is that their meals are a little more expensive than, let's say...the Governor's...

You know how much a Member of the Legislature in Puerto Rico steals...I mean earns?

$125,000.00 a year!

That doesn't include a free car, paid by us, and a meal per-diem of $200!

2009 weirdness started in Chile...

SANTIAGO (Reuters) - A Chilean man tried to steal $80,000 from his 82-year-old grandmother by disguising his 21-year-old girlfriend as the elderly woman and having her withdraw money from the bank, but the plot was foiled.

The man falsified his grandmother's identity card and his girlfriend wore a latex mask. They might have gotten away with it if it weren't for a bank worker who called the grandmother's home and learned she was visiting relatives in Venezuela.

"She acted like an elderly woman, was dressed as elderly woman and moved like one. It was a good impersonation," Victor Mellado, head of client service at the Banco de Chile in the port city of Talcahuano in southern Chile told local television.

The pair have been arrested by the police for attempted fraud and falsification of documents and face a maximum of up to three years in jail if convicted, prosecutor Jose Orella said.

This proves people will do anything for money!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Steven Spielberg and major Hollywood studios stole the plot from Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1954 film "Rear Window" in making last year's "Disturbia," a lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court on Monday said.

Dreamworks, its parent company Viacom Inc, and Universal Pictures, a unit of General Electric Co's NBC Universal, are accused of copyright infringement and breach of contract for making "Disturbia" without first obtaining permission from the copyright holders, the suit said.

Spielberg is credited as executive producer of the film, which grossed about $80 million at the U.S. box office, and is named as a defendant.
