Patrick Stewart knighted by the Queen of England!

Yes! Now it's Sir Patrick Stewart.

Actor Sir Patrick Stewart paid tribute to a former teacher as he was knighted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The 69-year-old said he owed "literally everything" to the English teacher who first encouraged him to perform.

"Although many people in my life have had great influence on me, without this man none of it would have happened," he said following Wednesday's investiture.

The classically-trained actor is best known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the X-Men films.

He was recently seen on the London stage appearing alongside fellow actor knight Sir Ian McKellen in Waiting for Godot.

Sir Patrick said his knighthood - announced in the New Year Honours List - had been "an unlooked-for honour".

More on this on the BBC News page.

Ok. Here's my brush with fame and Sir Patrick Stewart.

I was on a job interview in New York City in May 2000. I have a cousin who works as publicity coordinator for the Loew's theaters in Broadway. After my interview, he invites me to dinner at a restaurant called Trattoria Trecolori on 47th St, between 8th Ave. and Broadway. I arrived early and took a table near the center, but not far from the windows. As I was decked in my finest, it didn't occur to me that I looked like a mafioso.

To my surprise, my cousin Ulysses arrives with none other than Patrick Stewart! I was flabbergasted, as I'm a big Star Trek fan. I tried not to be a fan boy (after all, four years before I had met most the cast of ST Voyager), so we proceeded to have a conversation about future projects, Puerto Rico and theater in general. as we were eating a great Rissoto con Pesce (Italian rice and fish, courtesy of Ulysses business expense account!).

Nobody noticed the tour bus that stopped in front and the throngs of Japanese tourists coming into the restaurant. All of the sudden, a guy shouted something that sounded like..."PATRICK STUARTSAN"! As it seemed like hundreds of flashbulbs went array around us. Mr. Stewart looked mortified. I looked at my cousin and said in Spanish; Who are these people? That probably sounded Italian to them as at that moment restaurant security arrived and escorted our Japanese tormentors to the second floor, to eat their dinner. We continued our dinner, laughing at the whole incident.

It was later on that it dawned on me, that probably when these people got their pictures back in Japan, they could proudly say that they saw Capt. Picard dining with two real, honest to goodness New York City Mafiosi! If anybody see these photos on the tubes, gimme a heads up!

All I can say is that I'm happy that Patrick Stewart is now Sir Patrick Stewart, OBE.
Good show, Old Chap!

Man used his penis to attack a female police officer!

Because it's St. Patrick's Day, we featured a story about stupid drunk people. Feast your eyes on this!

Via BBC News

A man who assaulted a female police officer with his penis has been fined.

Marium Varinauskas, 28, tried to strike the officer on the head with his penis when she was called out to his flat, but she got out of the way.

Lithuanian Varinauskas admitted a charge of assault at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and was fined £600. (About US $1,200)

The court heard he had been drinking heavily and could not remember committing the offence at his home in Aberdeen.

Police were called to his home by his girlfriend, who had complained about him being drunk last November.

They arrived to find the self-employed engineer sitting on the sofa wearing a pair of underpants.

Fiscal depute Elaine Lynch said: "The accused got to his feet and was standing over the police officer exposing his penis and thrusting it in her face, forcing her to take evasive action to avoid getting struck."

Defence solicitor John Hardie said: "He was sitting on the couch drunk with his pants on.

"He can't remember anything but accepts that if that's what the police say then that's what happened.

"He has never been so drunk before that day and accepts he has to take full responsibility. He apologises profusely and is extremely embarrassed."

His not guilty plea to committing a breach of the peace by uttering offensive and sexual remarks was accepted by the Crown.

Sheriff Annella Cowan was told that the Lithuanian had now quit binge drinking because of the incident.

I'm still ROTFLMAO on this one! Especially about the officer taking "Evasive Action..." Hilarious!!!!

The British among the ugliest people in the World!

And that surprises us because...

LONDON (Reuters) - Britons are among the ugliest people in the world, according to a dating website that says it only allows "beautiful people" to join.

Fewer than one in eight British men and just three in 20 women who have applied to BeautifulPeople.com have been accepted, an emailed statement from the website showed.

Existing members of the "elite dating site" rate how attractive potential members are over a 48 hour period, after applicants upload a recent photo and personal profile.

Swedish men have proved the most successful, with 65 percent being accepted, while Norwegian women are considered the most beautiful with 76 percent accepted, the website said.

The way that BeautifulPeople.com accepts new members is simple. A potential member applies with a photo and a brief profile. Over 48 hours, existing members of the opposite sex vote whether or not to admit them, the site said.

Options are: "Yes definitely," "Hmm yes, O.K," "Hmm no, not really" and "No definitely not."

The site was founded in 2002 in Denmark and went live across the globe last month. Since then, the site has rejected nearly 1.8 million people from 190 countries, admitting just 360,000 new members.

"I would say Britain is stumbling because they don't spend as much time polishing up their appearance and they are letting themselves down on physical fitness," Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge said. "Next to Brazilian and Scandinavian beauties, British people just aren't as toned or glamorous."

Only the male Russian and Polish applicants fared worse than British men, although Russian women had a 44 percent acceptance rate. Polish women did not appear in the table.

German applicants were slated for offering up unflattering photographs, which may have hindered their acceptance rates at 15 percent for men and 13 percent for women, the lowest rate in their category.

"German men and women aren't faring well, but they are submitting stern images, they need to soften up," Hodge said.

Can curry cure cancer?

No! Not that Tim Curry!

An extract found in the bright yellow curry spice turmeric can kill off cancer cells, scientists have shown.

The chemical - curcumin - has long been thought to have healing powers and is already being tested as a treatment for arthritis and even dementia.

Now tests by a team at the Cork Cancer Research Centre show it can destroy gullet cancer cells in the lab.

Cancer experts said the findings in the British Journal of Cancer could help doctors find new treatments.

Dr Sharon McKenna and her team found that curcumin started to kill cancer cells within 24 hours.

The cells also began to digest themselves, after the curcumin triggered lethal cell death signals.

Dr McKenna said: "Scientists have known for a long time that natural compounds have the potential to treat faulty cells that have become cancerous and we suspected that curcumin might have therapeutic value."

Dr Lesley Walker, director of cancer information at Cancer Research UK, said: "This is interesting research which opens up the possibility that natural chemicals found in turmeric could be developed into new treatments for oesophageal cancer.

"Rates of oesophageal cancer rates have gone up by more than a half since the 70s and this is thought to be linked to rising rates of obesity, alcohol intake and reflux disease so finding ways to prevent this disease is important too."

Very Interesting!

Another sign that Britain is out of control, It will cost you money to use the toilet in airliner!

Ok, that's it, the British are close to joining my s@$t list! First is the stupid "Don't-photograph-any-cops-or-we-will-arrest-you!" Law, now it's this.

LONDON (Reuters) - Ryanair's chief executive said Europe's largest budget carrier might start charging passengers for using the toilet while flying, but his spokesman cautioned Michael O'Leary often just made things up at will.

"One thing we have looked at in the past and are looking at again is the possibility of maybe putting a coin slot on the toilet door so that people might actually have to spend a pound ($1.43) to spend a penny in future," O'Leary told BBC television.

He said this would not inconvenience passengers traveling without cash. "I don't think there is anybody in history that has got on board a Ryanair aircraft with less than a pound."

A spokesman said the airline had considered the fee as a possible source of extra revenue since passengers had the option of not using the toilet on board, but added that "maybe O'Leary was just taking the p*ss this morning."

"Michael makes a lot of this stuff up as he goes along and while this has been discussed internally there are no immediate plans to introduce it," Stephen McNamara said in a statement.

O'Leary has a reputation as a cost-cutter, expanding Ryanair by offering low headline fares and charging extra for items such as additional luggage.

Last week, Ryanair announced it was to shut all check-in desks at airports and have passengers check in online instead.

"We're all about finding ways of raising discretionary revenue so we can keep lowering the cost of air travel," he said.

So now you know! If your gonna fly Ryanair in the future, hold it in! Unless it's a transatlantic flight, then, you are up the creek!

How long till US Carriers pick up on this novel idea!
