Estudiantes de la UPR fueron mas inteligentes que los pillos y embusteros que pululan en el capitolio e irrumpieron durante una ceremonia de gratificación de estos criminales con nuestro dinero. Mientras develaban los bustos de los alza-colas imperiales, también conocidos como ex-gobernadores, los estudiantes, impecablemente vestidos, irrumpieron en gritos para parar la cuota de $800 en la universidad, deteniendo la ceremonia. La Policía esbirros coloniales, los sacaron a patadas y empujones, claro, obviando que hay criminales drogadictos y gordas embusteras en el capitolio. Vean el vídeo.

Miren la declaraciones de nuestro "gobernador"

El gobernador Luis Fortuño justificó hoy acción de violencia de parte de la Policía ocurrida ayer en el Capitolio contra estudiantes de la Universidad de Puerto Rico.

El primer ejecutivo dijo que habló ayer y habló hoy también con el superintendente de la Policía, José Figueroa Sancha, y luego de mencionarlo en unas declaraciones ante la prensa, se limitó a señalar "que todos podemos mejorar y debemos mejorar" sobre sus actuaciones.

Agregó que habrá una investigación administrativa sobre los incidentes ocurridos en la casa de las Leyes, pero a renglón seguido advirtió: "no vamos a permitir actos de provocación e intolerancia en Puerto Rico".

El Primer Ejecutivo sostuvo que el gobierno "sabía que ayer iban a haber provocaciones de estos grupos".

Señaló que los grupos socialistas habían amenazado con tomar el Capitolio por la fuerza y que el liderato del Partido Popular "se les unieron".

"Las acciones y las decisiones no pueden estar basadas en la intolerancia y la intransigencia. En la democracia todos tenemos derecho a tener nuestras opiniones, pero no podemos imponer nuestros criterios a la fuerza y en contra de la autoridad", añadió.

El Gobernador se negó a contestarle preguntas de la prensa que cubría una actividad pública en la que participaba en la Avenida Kennedy, en ocasión de colocarse la primera piedra del nuevo Sam's Club que se abrirá en ese lugar.

Las preguntas que se quedaron sin contestar fueron, entre otras, las siguientes: ¿Si él (entendía) la acción de violencia desmedida contra los estudiantes que intentaron manifestarse ayer en el Capitolio?
¿Si él le ordenó al superintendente de la Policía José Figueroa Sancha que la Fuerza de Choque arremetiera de la forma en que arremetió contra los manifestantes? ¿Si él, como comandante en jefe de la Uniformada, consintió que se diese el operativo con la carga de violencia con que se dio; y de no haberlo consentido, ¿si le va a pedir la renuncia al Superintendente?

Si sabían que iba a haber provocaciones. Porque no concibieron un plan para evitar la violencia.

A la verdad que este gobierno esta al garete.

El superintendente de la policía, José Sancha, debe renunciar a su puesto, por incompetencia, al no combatir la ola criminal y ser infectivo en las protestas. Y a Thomas Rivera Schatz se le debe dar un voto de no confianza. Pero vemos que nuestro "gobernador" es un cobarde que le tiene miedo a Thomas Hitler y su pandilla, liderada por Marcos Rodríguez Ema.

It was 10 years ago today. Remember Elián González?

On April 22, 2000, the Elián González saga came to an end in the early hours in the morning on a hushed Hialeah street.

The boy, who was taken by his mother on the perilous 90 mile illegal boat trip from Cuba to Key West, was the center of controversy between the United States and Cuba. Elián's distant relatives claimed that her mother, who drowned when the boat capsized, had wanted that Elián stayed in America. His father, still living in Cuba, was asking for his son to be returned, and to resume a normal life in that island.

At the end International law prevailed, and in a daring raid, Elián was whisked away by FBI agents to be reunited with his dad and back home to Cuba.

If you are asking whatever happened to Elián, well he's 16 now, and a member of the Pioneers, the cadre of Communist party cadets.

In an antiquated political system, that holds to the ideas of a discarded cold war, it's almost quaint to see little Elián playing Political Officer.

What will happen in another 10 years. Probably Elián will become a Tele-communications executive with ATT.

Palestinian protesters pose as Na'vi from "Avatar"

JERUSALEM (AP) -- Palestinian protesters have added a colorful twist to demonstrations against Israel's separation barrier, painting themselves blue and posing as characters from the hit film "Avatar."

The demonstrators also donned long hair and loincloths Friday for the weekly protest against the barrier near the village of Bilin.

They equated their struggle to the intergalactic one portrayed in the film.

Israel says the barrier is needed for its security. Palestinians consider it a land grab.

The protests have become a symbol of opposition. They often end in clashes with Israeli security forces involving stones and tear gas.

The "Avatar" protest comes a day after the Israeli government began rerouting the enclosure to eat up less of the Palestinian village.

A comment on the situation in Puerto Rico...

As we have been entertaining you with this blog, things in Puerto Rico has gone from worse to worse. Apart from one of the worse murder rates in 16 years, a very high unemployment figure, made worse by the mass firings of over 16,000 public employees.

All of these things are happening and then our brand new Secretary of Goverment Marcos Rodríguez Ema goes on the radio and said that the protesters and their leaders are Terrorists.

Terrorists?

Who fired more than 16,000 employees, destroying the careers and peace of thousands of Puerto Ricans?

Who has insulted the dignity of our people, over and over again?

Who wants to privatize all of the public services, making more expensive our public works?

Who?

And they dare to call peaceful protesters terrorists, dangling the fascist "Patriot Act" over the head of law abiding citizens.

The only terrorists here are called the Government of Puerto Rico, trying to suppress the right of people to protest unfair practices and gained rights.
By using threats and intimidations, you're only succeding in looking weak and afraid.
By firing honest men and women from their employment, you have engendered terror in the minds of Puertorricans. That's what a real terrorist does!

Remember Mr. Fortuño, we are your bosses. We pay your salary with our taxes. You are a temporary employee at best.

Be greatful that you live in a country where people don't take things as seriously as they should. If it wasn't the case, you would have been tarred and feathered...or worse!

Give thanks to whatever god you belive in, that we are only going to protest in peace your abuses.

There's still time to open dialog and to talk this thru. Peace is still at a cheap price, as the character Quark said in the Star Trek series "Deep Space Nine". Afterwards the price for peace might be measured in pints or gallons of blood.

It's a dangerous road we are driving. Hope we don't crash and burn!

WASILLA, Alaska – Even for a nonconformist, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has defied political logic with her sudden, stunning announcement to leave office more than a year early.
Supporters and critics alike say the former GOP vice presidential candidate's resignation, announced Friday afternoon and effective July 26, is an inexplicable move for a high profile Republican widely seen as a contender for a White House run in 2012. A half-term governor campaigning for president?
"If she is thinking that leaving her term 16 months early is going to help her prepare to maybe go on to bigger and better things on the political stage, I think she's sadly mistaken. You just can't quit," said Andrew Halcro, a Palin critic who lost the 2006 gubernatorial race to her.
Palin's abrupt announcement Friday rattled the Republican Party but left open the possibility of a presidential run. She and her staff are keeping mum on her future plans.
Palin's spokesman, David Murrow, said the governor didn't say anything to him about this being her "political finale."
"She's looking forward to serving the public outside the governor's chair," he said.
And Pam Pryor, a spokeswoman for Palin's political action committee, said the group continues to accept donations on its Web site, which saw an uptick in contributions Friday afternoon.
The announcement caught even current and former Palin advisers by surprise. Former members of Sen. John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign team, now dispersed across the country, traded perplexed e-mails and phone calls about the vice presidential nominee's decision to step down.
In a hastily arranged news conference at her home in Wasilla, a suburb of Anchorage, Palin said she had decided against running for re-election as Alaska's governor, and believed it was best to leave office even though she had 1.5 years left to her term. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take her place.
"Many just accept that lame duck status, and they hit that road," Palin said. "They draw a paycheck. They kind of milk it. And I'm not going to put Alaskans through that."
Palin has proven formidable among the party's base. But the last week brought a highly critical piece in Vanity Fair magazine, with unnamed campaign aides questioning if Palin was really prepared for the presidency.
The backbiting continued with follow-up articles elsewhere recounting the nasty infighting that plagued her failed bid. Her advisers sniped with other Republicans, underscoring the deeply divided GOP looking for its next standard bearer.
Meghan Stapleton, Palin's personal spokeswoman, shot down speculation that ranged wildly from Palin dropping out of politics altogether to eyeing runs against fellow Alaska Republicans Rep. Don Young and Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Palin's comment about serving outside government refers to the present, she said.
Stapleton, however, said it's too early to say whether Palin would seek the presidency. In the meantime, the governor will continue to work to bring "positive change as a citizen without a title right now," she said.
"Her vision is what's best for Alaska, which translates into what's best for America," Stapleton said.
Murkowski, whose father was the governor when he lost to Palin in the 2006 Republican primary, was dismissive of the announcement.
"I am deeply disappointed that the governor has decided to abandon the state and her constituents before her term has concluded," she said in a one-sentence statement.
At the news conference, Palin alluded to how she could help change the country and help military members — an indication that she didn't think her time on the national stage was over.
On her Twitter page Friday evening, Palin wrote that she was remembering America's service members on the eve of Fourth of July.
"Thinking of our vets who kept us free & our troops keeping us free today: THANK YOU!" she wrote on the social-networking Web site.
Palin's decision not to seek re-election is a familiar one for those considering a presidential campaign. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney chose not to seek another term as he geared up for an unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid. Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has announced he won't seek another term, giving him plenty of free time ahead of a potential 2012 bid. But Romney completed his term and Pawlenty plans to finish his.
Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, said the announcement left many confused. "I think it eliminates her from serious consideration for the presidency in 2012," he said.
Palin, 45, also has the potential to make far more money in the private sector than the $125,000 or so she has been making as governor. She already had a deal with publisher HarperCollins to produce her memoirs, with publication planned for next spring. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Six-figure book deals are common for high-profile political figures.
Palin emerged from relative obscurity nearly a year ago when she was tapped as then Republican presidential candidate McCain's running mate.
She was a controversial figure from the start and soon became the butt of talk-show jokes. Comedian Tina Fey famously imitated her elaborate updo and folksy "You betcha!" on "Saturday Night Live."
In Alaska, she saw her popularity wane this year after returning from the presidential campaign. She's become a polarizing figure, and multiple ethics complaints have been filed against her with the state personnel board.
All but two of the 15 complaints have been dismissed with no findings of wrongdoing, although one complaint led to Palin's agreement to reimburse the state about $8,100 for costs associated with trips taken with her children. The state says it has spent nearly $300,000 to investigate the complaints, and Palin says she has racked up more than $500,000 in legal fees fighting them.

Hey...It's Friday! have you received your pink slip yet?

For people who follow this blog in Puerto Rico, they know what I'm talking about. For those who don't, a little recap is in order.

In the 2008 campaign for Colonial overseer...I mean, Governor of PR., Luis Fortuño promised that if elected, only one man would have lost his job in PR's horrible economic climate, that of former Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila. After winning the elections and becoming Governor, Fortuño, following the advice of the real power here, the rich, decided that the most easy place to balance the over-bloated budget was to fire up to 30,000 public employees. The first 10,000 will get their walking papers today, begining what probabaly will be a further unstabilizing of the unraveling fabric of our society, already frayed by drug violence, apathy and high unemployment.

Meanwhile, the contracts for lobbyists, advisors, lawyers and representatives, not only do they continue but got even higher and fatter. Some goverment executives even got higher bonuses and salaries, while those fired have to invent something, in this bleak future our "leaders" have dreamed for us, a future in which the privileged ride on the back of the poor and downtrodden, feeding them scraps while we work for them as slaves.

And what are the people planinning to do? What are you planning to do? And me? I will continue to spread the word and spreak out against these and other abuses. I will protest and I will shout from the top of my lungs until my voice is hoarse. I hope the tolerance level of the people here in PR is reaching it's limit. Silence, in this and other matters is tartamount to complicity. Speak out, or else, it will be too late!

Protest now! If you wait until later, you probably won't have the liberty to do so.

Little heavy and serious tone for a Friday. Yes, I know. But this is serious. Levity will have to wait for a while.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Law enforcement arrested two men in Tennessee who had plans to rob a gun dealer to shoot Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and "as many non-Caucasians" as possible, an official said on Monday.

An official from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said police found the men in the Jackson, Tennessee area with a number of guns, including a sawed-off shotgun, in their car.

"They wanted to go to a place where they could shoot as many non-Caucasian as they could," the official said, noting that the men first planned to rob a gun dealer. "They also had a plot to assassinate Sen. Obama."

Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, is leading Republican John McCain in opinion polls ahead of the November 4 election.

Is Pakistan going to war with the US?

Have the US frakked up relations so much in the quagmire that is the Afghanistan/Iraq wars, that one of his allies is turning against them? Apparently so! Look at an excerpt of what Pakistan is saying to their former "allies".

Pakistan's army spokesman has made clear that its forces will not tolerate incursions into Pakistani territory.

His remarks come a day after Pakistani troops were reported to have fired shots into the air to stop US troops crossing into South Waziristan.

Tension is rising in Pakistan over an increase in US attacks along the border with Afghanistan.
