Balloon Boy stunt launches criminal investigation!

The Larimer County Sheriff's Department will conduct interviews with Balloon Boy and his family, which may lead to a criminal investigation due to filing a false report.

According to a Sheriff's official, the interviews will begin tomorrow because "their physical and emotional state as of this morning is not well."

Considering the on-camera barfing and back-to-back shameless interviews, they could probably use a breather before they're taken for all they're worth!

As always, The Simpsons did it first and much better!

Feast on this blast from the past from season 16.

Man... I've been reading this blog on my phone and was incapable of putting in my two cents...

Yes, it was a hoax. If you ever saw the Mythbusters episode of the little girl and the balloons, you'd know the kind of acreage needed to hoist a skinny little kid into the air using helium. Trust me, a half-deflated 20-foot diameter, 5-foot high disc just ain't gonna cut it; it simply won't have the lift required and even if it did it most certainly wouldn't be able to reach 7,000 feet up in the air!

Secondly, did you see the tiny little basket at the bottom? Add 40-60 pounds of kid and the whole profile of the balloon will change! It won't be a "flying saucer"... it would be like a flying ice-cream cone.

The father, the supposed "inventor" of the thing HAD to know this. Just looking at the video you can tell there was no payload in the thing. It flew too high, got there too fast and flew too far to have carried the kid.

Add to this that the family seems to be something of a media whore (Wife Swap? Twice? Give me a frakkin' break!), added to the suspicious statements and circumstances and you have the makings of a grade-A clusterfrak with the FAA building.
