Sure sign Puerto Rico is going to hell in a shopping cart.

This photo says it all!

It was taken at noon today. It shows the body of a woman found near a buoy at Santa Cecilia Street in Ocean Park in San Juan. The woman, unidentified as of yet, apparently drowned. No signs of violence were found in her body.

But that's not the story. The story is the reaction of the people near the body of this woman.

Nobody reacts or cares.

NOBODY.

No empathy for the demise of another human being.

Are these the new puertorrican generation?

Is this what we are becoming?

One of the girls is nonchalantly speaking on her phone. Perhaps telling somebody about the near excitement of having a dead body so near?

The guy sitting on the chair, could not care less. See no evil, care no evil.

And the cops have not cordoned off the scene? This a potential crime scene!

WTF!!!!!!!

This picture makes me ashamed to be a Puertorrican on a day like this!

There is no need to cordon off the area; it is not a crime scene... especially if she was brought in from the water (as it seems to be the case).

Yes, I want to slap the sleeping twit in the foreground with a wet trout, but really, what do you want him (or anyone else) to do? We criticize rubberneckers in the highway, yet here we are criticizing the opposite; the apathy we want to see on the roads when we see emergency lights up ahead.

What is happening to us? Nothing, really; we have just gotten used to dead people on the street. This is not like it was "back in the day" when seeing someone dead would have us rushing back home or to church to contemplate the nature of the life and death cycle... If we did that we'd never get anything done nowadays. There's too many people getting killed out in the streets for us to really, really care and still maintain a semblance of normalcy in our lives.

True! Still is sad to see a scene like this, and not wonder, at least for a bit. Maybe they did care and after a while they went back to business.

But I doubt it.

Still, as I been reading about the story, it occurs to me. The girl was found chained to the buoy. This sounds like a CSI episode.

As for being critical, hey I'm training for my Old fart phase.

When I say "You kids, get off my lawn!" I want to mean it!
